Product Description

Anyone who's ever listened to Michael Savage on the radio or read any of his books knows one thing about him: Michael Savage loves America.

The child of Russian immigrants, he grew up in a working-class area of the Bronx where his father started out as a street vendor.

"It was a very straight house, you know, a tough kind of upbringing," he says. "Life was hard in many ways, but I never missed a meal. Besides, it gave me a work ethic and values and a love for America that nobody's ever been able to take away from me."

Savage worries, though, about the radical changes the country is undergoing.

"Yet I see an enormous erosion of these freedoms," he says. "Not just from the government but also from alien forces within our society. So-called civil liberty groups continue to attack each of these freedoms in the name of freedom. At the same time, a growing international government, the United Nations, continually attempts to override these freedoms."

"The future of America hangs in the balance like a loose tooth. Everything you and I have worked for is being wiped out before our eyes. Our borders, our language, and our culture are under siege. ... Liberalism is unraveling the very fabric of this great nation. And the sooner you understand that liberalism is a dangerous mental disorder, the sooner you can break free from this insanity that attacks the way you live, how you conduct your business, the way you worship, the choice of SUV you drive, the food you eat, and the very freedoms you enjoy."

"And another thing," he adds, "Don't bother me with your Hate-Free Zone pabulum. Every time I see a sign proclaiming an area a "Hate-Free Zone," I get hateful. ... Who are they to tell me it's a Hate-Free Zone? It's my constitutional right to hate you if you're a low-life. To hate you if you rape children. To hate you if you step on the flag. To hate you if you're a drug dealer. To hate you if you break the crosses off war memorials. I'm not allowed to hurt you, but I'm allowed to hate you. What do you mean, "Hate-Free Zone"? Who invented that garbage? That's modern fascism."

Savage doesn't think much of current-day feminism, either:

"Today in America we have a 'she-ocracy,'" he says, "where a minority of feminist zealots rule the culture. Together, they have both feminized and homosexualized much of America to the point where the nation has become passive, receptive, and masochistic."

Or of multiculturalism:

"When I compare our civilization to those who only maim and destroy, some people say: 'Michael, how dare you say that the West is superior to the East. How dare you say we're more civilized.' These thieves in dirty nightshirts have created nothing in a thousand years. Just check the tags on your clothing. Ever see a label, 'Made in Iran' or 'Made by the Taliban'? Of course not. They cut throats and blow things up. That's it."

"You see? The book you're holding has the power to unravel years of liberal brainwashing."

"'The Savage Nation' is the story of one man's love affair with the United States," he summarizes his book and the philosophy on which it is based. "My grandfather Sam, who was the 'astronaut' of the family, fled Russia, came to America, and worked for seven years. One by one, with the iron support of Grandma Fannie, he brought over my family, including my father, who was a little boy. I am living Sam's dreams, and I would do anything to protect the freedoms I enjoy."
