Product Description

We all learn from our own experiences, but this book offers the opportunity to learn from the experiences of others, and not just any people, but a select group who have preserved and succeeded in a variety of fields. Meet writers, actors, athletes, politicians, entrepreneurs, developers, directors, musicians - even an animal therapist. Some have won Oscars, Emmys, Tonys, Grammys; some even a Pulitzer or a Cy Young.

What they share in common is that they successfully pursued their dreams. Isn't that what we all want to do? Even if you think you already know about some of the people profiled, accomplished author, screenwriter and humorist Burt Prelutsky's interviews provide whole new insights. He gets them to reveal not just obstacles they overcame to success, but also their favorite books, films and the influential people in their lives. He gets them to reveal what they would change most about America and about themselves, as well as the role religion plays in their lives and how much money matters to them.

"And whatever you think you know about them," Prelutsky says, "I'm willing to wager you don't know the eight people, living or dead, that they would invite to a dinner party."

Customer Reviews

"In Portraits of Success author Burt Prelutsky uses his inimitable finely-tuned talents to reveal surprising facts about what makes 60 people more successful than others. They are from all walks of life, such as authors, professors, writers, athletes, ministers, governors, land developers, theater managers, etc. Each entry is a couple of pages and is arranged alphabetically." - H.A. Kaplan, Philadelphia, Pa.

"One of the nice things about this book is that you CAN put it down. Because each of its chapters stands alone, you can read a little or a lot at a time. The best book on interviews in years.  if it kept my interest for the three years I worked on it, don't you figure it would hold your interest for the few hours it will take you to read it?" - Burt Prelutsky, Los Angeles, Calif.

"As I read the book, I'd come to an unfamiliar name and start to skip ahead, then pause to read a line or two and get hooked. These people have led interesting lives and for the most part, give interesting interviews. In fact, I read it cover to cover, except I skipped the author's bio on the book jacket. It's a fun read." -Ì´å James Bass
