Today there are untold voices in print, on television and online calling for our attention, and so many of these mock or belittle our faith. From co-workers to those calling themselves Christians, the tone has become one of reproach, disparaging the character of God and undermining the authority of the Bible. For those who have a heart for God, it can be intimidating and discouraging.
"How Do We Know the Bible Is True?" It is based on the absolute authority of God's Word, not man-centered explanations. Clearly presented, it will help bring clarity into a world filled with increasingly vague notions of truth.
Over 20 relevant issues are discussed including: Is the Bible totally without error? Did the resurrection really happen? How do we know that the 66 books of the Bible are from God? Does the Bible contradict itself? How were people saved before Jesus came? What is the purpose and meaning of life? Did miracles really happen? Was Genesis derived from ancient myths? How should we interpret the Bible; should Genesis be literal? Do you have to believe in a young earth to be saved?
Within these pages you will find responses to those honest questions of faith, helping to build a confidence in God's Word and inspiring your daily walk in His grace and peace. These powerful biblical insights are soundly presented by more than a dozen respected defenders of the faith, including Ken Ham, John MacArthur, Terry Mortenson, Jason Lisle, Brian Edwards, Tommy Mitchell, Jobe Martin, Georgia Purdom, Bodie Hodge and Roger Patterson.
"It was a real privilege for me to work on this new apologetics book, especially since there are chapters from two Christian leaders that I really look up to (John MacArthur and Ken Ham). Ken Ham and Bodie Hodge served as the general editors and I had the opportunity to check and edit the content of nearly every chapter. The book is designed with the average reader in mind so the technical jargon is kept to a minimum.
"How Do We Know the Bible Is True?" approaches the issues from a presuppositional point of view, whereas most works on apologetics come from an evidentialist perspective. This doesn't mean that we don't provide any evidence for our positions; it means we start from the Bible and show why the evidence makes sense in light of Scripture and cannot be accounted for in a naturalistic, atheistic worldview.
"Another huge difference between this book and most apologetics books is that we are not afraid to take a stand on a straightforward understanding of Genesis 1. Most apologists out there either avoid Genesis 1 like the plague or they actually promote views that contradict Genesis. God has revealed the true history of the world to us in His Word, and it is only when we are willing to trust Him in all areas that we can truly claim to have a biblical worldview." --Ì´å Tim Chaffey, editor of the book
