ÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎÌ_Ì´å«The Second Amendment is so simple. ItÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎå«Ì´åÇs an absolute tragedy that the question exists. What does it mean? Keep and bear arms means theyÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎå«Ì´åÇre mine. You canÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎå«Ì´åÇt have them. IÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎå«Ì´åÇve got some on me right now. And theyÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎå«Ì´åÇre loaded!ÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎÌ_ÌÎå´ ÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎå«Ì´å Ted Nugent
The Newtown school shooting. The Aurora theater shooting. The Tucson supermarket shooting.
Are visceral reactions to tragedies trumping the words of our forefathers? Should we allow fear and the growing concern over public safety to limit our civil liberties?
Dead Patriot Films presents ÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎÌ_Ì´å«Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire,ÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎÌ_ÌÎå´ a documentary that brings audiences to the center of the controversy over the issue that is dividing our nation ÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎå«Ì´å gun control. Narrated by Ice-T, a critically acclaimed rapper and actor, the film takes a critical look at current gun laws and the rising movement to restrict the rights guaranteed by our Second Amendment.
With the original intention of empowering a citizenryÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎå«Ì´åÇs ability to defend itself against a corrupt or tyrannical government, the concept today may seem far-fetched or the makings of a Hollywood blockbuster. However, it has happened throughout U.S. history. And long before gun control was positioned as a ÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎÌ_Ì´å«common sense measureÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎÌ_ÌÎå´ to combat violence, it was used as a means to oppress certain minority groups. Presently, the growing trend in gun control favors the wealthy and privileged, who leverage their connections to ensure their Second Amendment rights and safety, while those of lesser means struggle.
Informative and emotionally charged, ÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎÌ_Ì´å«Assaulted: Civil Rights Under FireÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎÌ_ÌÎå´ is an eye-opening look at the genesis of the Second Amendment to the Constitution, leading the audience to rethink the issues surrounding gun control, and the effect on civil rights and liberty.
After all, what you donÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎå«Ì´åÇt know can kill you.
ÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎÌ_Ì´å«'Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire' is unmistakably and unabashedly pro-gun ownership, but surprisingly non-shrill and sobersided as it builds its case against what documaker Kris Koenig clearly sees as unnecessary, if not unconstitutional, government restrictions on firearms. Pic likely wonÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎå«Ì´åÇt reach beyond its presumed target audience of ticketbuyers already in sync with its underlying message, but it could attract a more diverse viewership, and perhaps even change a few minds ÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎÌ__ÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎÌ_ÌÎå´ ÌÎÌ_ÌÎ_ÌÎå«Ì´å Variety
