Time is the Ally of Deceit (Paperback)
By Richard Rives
“There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” - Proverbs 16:25
A theologian and historian committed to discovering the original practices of Christianity, Richard Rives wrote the book “Time Is the Ally of Deceit.” This book takes a look at the roots of Christianity, then traces its blending with paganism up until the present day. Readers will be stunned by the changes that the worship of Jesus Christ has undergone since its beginning.
Many aspects of traditional Christianity cannot be found in the Bible. They can, however, be traced directly to the worship of pagan gods which predate Christianity by centuries. How is it that precepts that have nothing to do with Christ and everything to do with pagan sun worship have found their way into our churches? History reveals that there is one very good answer: "Time Is the Ally of Deceit."
From the creation of the world and Satan's deception in the Garden of Eden to present-day Christianity, Rives traces the worship of the sun god in ancient cultures and how it influenced the worship of the God of the Bible.
•Part 1 - Flee to the Mountains: First-century believers, based on the warning by Jesus, fled Jerusalem prior to its destruction in 70 A.D.
•Part 2 - Baal Comes to Rome: During the third century, Roman emperors brought the worship of Baal to Rome. This consolidated the worship of all the sun gods under the title “Sol Invictus.”
•Part 3 - The Persian Sun God Mithra: Historians report that during the fourth century the worship of the Persian sun god Mithra mysteriously vanished as Christianity was established as the religion of the empire. Was it Mithraism that vanished? Or was it true Christianity?
•Part 4 - Constantine and the Nicaean Council: While his coins state that he was committed to the sun god Sol Invictus, Constantine became known as "the First Christian Emperor." As he presided over the Council of Nicaea, the date for the observance of Passover was changed from the biblically prescribed timing.
•Part 5 - Remember the Sabbath Day: Many theologians would tell us that Sunday has replaced the seventh day Sabbath, that in fact the law has been "nailed to the cross." Jesus said that until heaven and earth pass away not even the slightest aspect of the law would change.
Throughout the book runs the divisive but documented truth that most of the facets of traditional Christianity are, in Rives’ words, “actually pagan in nature and they never had anything to do with Jesus. Educated theologians know that, and purposefully withhold that information.”
In an interview Rives stated that "First century believers would have never accepted [today's practices].” Here are a few details that Rives discloses: “The spot where many Christians believe Jesus was born in Bethlehem's Church of the Nativity is really the exact location of the ancient worship of the pagan god Tammuz.” And “Easter is the name of a pagan fertility goddess. The believers that walked and talked with Christ observed Passover.”
In addition to researching thick encyclopedias and detailed historical records, Rives traveled to sites in Egypt, Turkey, Israel, Jordan, Greece and Italy, as well as the Smithsonian in Washington, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Philadelphia Museum, the Oriental Institute Museum at the University of Chicago, the Museum of London, the British Museum in London, the Cairo Museum in Egypt and the Anatolian museum in Turkey. He was committed to enhancing his research and solidifying the truth.
