End of the Spear (Paperback)
By Steve Saint
When two worlds collide, one family faces its ultimate challenge.
Product Description
Steve Saint was only 5 years old when his father, pilot Nate Saint, was killed by Auca Indians, members of a violent Stone-Age Amazon tribe that he and other missionaries were attempting to befriend. Having lived with the tribe as a child after his aunt chose to serve the people who killed his dad, Steve made the difficult transition to modern American society when he left Ecuador to go to college. Despite his struggle to adjust to American culture, Steve became a successful businessman in the U.S. and never expected to make the jungle his home again. So his first response was not positive when the tribes people insisted that he come back to live among them after his Aunt Rachel Saint’s death. But return he did, bringing his wife and teenage children with him.
"End of the Spear" is the fascinating story of how Steve and his families – his wife and children and his Waodoni family – struggled to learn how to deal with being caught between two worlds. Along the way, Steve learns about the tribal intrigue that led to his father’s murder and has to make some difficult choices. A fascinating update to the bestselling "Through Gates of Splendor."
About the Author
Steve Saint grew up in Ecuador among the Waodoni Indians. His father, Nate Saint, was one of five missionaries martyred in their attempt to befriend the Waodoni, who were known for their violence and their primitive, virtually Stone-Age culture. After returning to the U.S. and graduating from Wheaton College, Steve launched several successful businesses. He has also worked as a missionary in West Africa. At the request of the Waodoni elders, he returned to the Amazon in 1995 along with his family. Steve’s experiences living in the jungle led to his founding I-TEC, a not-for-profit organization that assists the “hidden church” in its journey towards independence and maturity.
