Product Description

A little more than a century ago when the Titanic struck an iceberg, courageous men sprang into action to ensure that women and children would be saved. These men paid the ultimate price, but what did they know about manliness that we have forgotten? It's no secret that today's men are struggling. What do we see? Western civilization is in shambles. Crime, divorce, fatherlessness and immaturity are all on the rise, and the destruction of the modern family is not far behind. Years of ridicule and political correctness have left men passive, lazy, cowardly, selfish and confused about their identities. If there ever was a time when manhood was under attack, it is now. And history shows that when manhood breaks down, civilizations fall.

How is "women and children first" relevant today? Will our civilization survive the decline of manliness? What does it really mean to be a man? In "Act Like Men," viewers will be challenged and inspired to explore these questions and seek to reclaim a biblical vision for manliness that has been largely lost.

Editorial Reviews

Lamplighter Guild

"When the Captain of the Titanic first realized that the ship was going to sink, he issued a command; 'Women and children first,' this was an old marine law which said that in the event of a disaster, the women and children would be placed on the lifeboats BEFORE the men. Why? As men, we are to be the protectors/providers/defenders/etc; we are to treat women and children with respect. If you ever wondered where the ideas of chivalry are based, realize that it is an expression of Biblical teaching.

"In addition, the film paralleled Christ's sacrificial love for His bride (the church) with men and how they are to treat their "brides." One interviewee (Scott Brown) said it something like this; 'When you have young men who don't care about the bride of the Lord Jesus Christ, how can you expect them to care about a bride that they're going to marry?"

"The film featured interviews with some great speakers including pastor and radio host, Kevin Swanson!! Another highlight of the film included its parallel of the Titanic (and the men aboard) with the recent Italian cruise ship (Costa Concordia). In the recent disaster of the "Concordia" the captain (and his chief officers) ABANDONED ship... and there was mass chaos and rioting to get aboard lifeboats. Bill Potter (an interviewee) also mentioned a ferry that sank in Asia; in this disaster, there were survivor testimonies of men kicking women and children into the water to secure a place for themselves on the lifeboats! Sadly, we can see the evident marks of a Darwinian view of life and people!

"This film was beautifully and skillfully filmed and the motion graphics were eye-catching to say the least. The music score was incredible! Lush strings mixed with haunting and beautiful melodies combined to create a musical experience that was awe-inspiring!

"Regarding the Titanic, there is written an old poem called When Manhood Perished Not (Harvey F. Thew.) In this poem, the author acknowledges the show of manliness on the Titanic; he says that while men may have perished, manhood did not! We live in a time where manliness is "sinking" (pun intended) into the seas of apathy and selfishness. It is time to once again demonstrate the true qualities of a man; ultimately a true man is one who obeys God! I highly recommend this film; in fact, it is a must-see for both men and young men and especially for fathers!" --å Anthony Barr
